Kirsty Young is the presenter of Desert Island Discs on BBC Radio 4 and also fronts a variety of television programmes.

She began her broadcasting career twenty five years ago at BBC Radio Scotland and her work has been wide-ranging with stints anchoring network television series, including ITV’s live coverage of 9/11, fronting BBC’s Crimewatch for 7 years, a regular guest presenter on Have I Got News For You, and most recently fronting the BBC’s commemoration of both VE and VJ Day.

She is married and lives in Oxfordshire with her husband and two daughters.
